3.1 Phillip Lim is named after the actual age the designer Phillip Lim had when he first launched his womenswear collection in 2004. The collection was a backlash against the often - in Phillip Lim’s opinion - too loud and arty designs shown on the catwalks.

Phillip Lim's men’s collection is inspired by a contemporary interpretation over old classics, focusing on the quality and the materials used. He is especially known for his characteristic turn-ups and stitchings.
